iSYSTEM Press Release

32-bit development kit breaks the £200 barrier

iPDP Starter Kit from iSYSTEM sets new benchmark in price and performance

12 June 2003 iSYSTEM, the leader in development tools for embedded systems design and test, have released the iPDP Starter Kit. A complete development kit for 32 bit embedded processors, the iPDP Starter kit includes iSYSTEM's winIDEA™ IDE/Debugger, the GNU C compiler, a JTAG interface and a target board: all for £199.00.

The initial release of the iPDP (Power Development Package) Starter Kit includes an Intel® Xscale™ target board and also supports ARM7™ and ARM9™. It runs on a standard PC. Versions to support other popular microprocessors, such as the Power PC, are in development.

"32 bit systems provide considerable power for applications, but anyone wanting to carry out an evaluation has faced a huge price barrier," said Helmut Kindermann, President of iSYSTEM. "The iPDP Starter Kit makes it possible to carry out an evaluation, or even completely develop a system, without a major investment."

winIDEA has evolved over time to become the most feature-rich embedded work environment, integrating all iSYSTEM emulation tools into one powerful IDE. The key strength of winIDEA for embedded engineers is its ease-of-use and its consistency from project to project. The iPDP Starter Kit also provides the GNU C Compiler, one of the most powerful and sophisticated C compilers available, closely integrated with winIDEA.

An Xscale target board and JTAG interface are supplied as standard. ARM users can easily connect the JTAG interface to standard ARM target boards.

As a starter kit, the user is limited to downloading and running a maximum program size of 30K in the evaluation board, with a one year licence. Upgrades allowing full use of the system and longer licences are available.

The iPDP Starter Kit can be ordered now, for only £199.00 (plus VAT, post and packing) from iSYSTEM Limited, Liberty House, New Greenham Park, Newbury, Berks RG19 6HW
